Judge Brenda Penny, who was responsible for the entire case before the Los Angeles High Court, on Wednesday signed a verdict by which Jamie Spears, Britney's father, is the official guardian and has control over her life.

The judge responsible for supervising the controversial guardianship, Britney Spears (39), rejected her request a week after a public appearance in which the singer passionately asked for her freedom, writes the Daily Mail.

Judge Brenda Penny, who was responsible for the entire case before the Los Angeles High Court, on Wednesday signed a verdict by which Jamie Spears, Britney's father, is the official guardian and has control over her life. 

Details of the verdict have not yet been shared with the public, although a new request for Britney Spears' freedom is already expected in LA. 

Recall, on June 23, 2021, Britney Spears told the judge responsible for overseeing her controversial custody that she wanted her life back and that the 13-year conservatorship her father had over her was over. 

The pop star's remarks, made via video link at a Los Angeles court hearing, are her first public address about a court-approved arrangement introduced in 2008 when she suffered a nervous breakdown.

Spears said in an emotional statement on June 23 that custody is abuse.

"I just want my life back," she said.

"I'm not here to be someone's slave," she added.

Los Angeles Supreme Court Judge Brenda Penny said at the time that she would need a formal petition filed with the court seeking termination of conservatorship before she could take any action.
